In a show of compassion and community support, humanitarian organisation Ashraful Aid on Saturday donated medical and essential items worth K3 million to the Gogo Chatinkha Maternity Wing at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre.
The donation included thermometers, buckets, wash basins, bread, and baby gift packs, all aimed at improving maternal and neonatal care at the hospital.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Ashraful Aid Malawi Executive Director Abdullah Panjwani said the gesture reflects the organisation’s mission to spread love, warmth, and hope to those in need.
> “We believe it is extremely important to support mothers and children, as they are at the heart of every community,” said Panjwani.
On her part,QECH Principal Nursing Officer Angella Jambo Kileta expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the items will play a vital role in enhancing patient care.
> “The buckets are essential for infection prevention, while the thermometers will help us closely monitor the health of both mothers and their babies,” she said.
According to hospital officials, the donation will directly benefit 50 mothers currently receiving care in the maternity wing.
