Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF), has reached out to vulnerable communities in Mangochi District by distributing food items to hundreds of families as part of its Ramadan charity activities.
The food distribution exercise targeted residents around Makawa Village, where many households struggle to meet their daily food requirements during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
The initiative forms part of FGRF’s broader humanitarian outreach programme, which aims to provide relief support to vulnerable families across Malawi during the fasting period.
Speaking during the distribution of the food items on Sunday, FGRF Director of Public Relations and Communication, Ibrahim Omar, said the organisation has intensified its charitable efforts since the beginning of Ramadan.
Omar explained that within the first two weeks of the fasting month, the foundation has already managed to assist nearly 20,000 families across the country.
He noted that charitable giving is highly encouraged during Ramadan, which motivates the organisation and its volunteers to reach out to as many struggling families as possible.
According to Omar, the foundation runs humanitarian programmes in several countries worldwide and relies on volunteers who work closely with communities and government authorities to ensure aid reaches the intended beneficiaries.
Apart from Mangochi, the organisation has also distributed food items in several other districts including Nsanje, Thyolo, Salima and Zomba.
He revealed that about 4,000 families have already been supported in Nsanje, another 4,000 in Thyolo and Salima respectively, while smaller numbers of households have also benefited in other locations.
In addition, the programme has reached about 1,700 families in Chikunda, 1,000 in Zomba, 650 in Kanjedza and 300 in Chiswe, with approximately 4,000 households expected to benefit in Mangochi this week.
Omar further explained that while the foundation focuses on emergency relief support, it also plans to invest in long term development initiatives such as education.
One of the beneficiaries from Makawa Village, Tuweje Alli, thanked the organisation for the assistance, saying the food support will help many families manage the challenges of preparing meals for breaking the fast and the early morning pre dawn meal during Ramadan.
The charity organisation has been implementing humanitarian programmes in Malawi for the past five years, during which hundreds of thousands of people have benefited from its relief and welfare support.
