
As the crescent moon signals the end of Ramadhan and the joyful celebration of Eidul-Fitr draws near, thousands of women in Blantyre have found renewed hope and relief, thanks to a timely intervention by Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF).
In a heartwarming gesture, FGRF distributed Eid food packs to 4,000 women at Kanjeza Primary School ground,on Thursday turning what could have been a difficult celebration into a moment of joy and dignity for many vulnerable families.
The packs, which included essential items such as sugar, salt, soya pieces, maize flour, rice, and buckets, are expected to help families prepare meaningful meals and celebrate Eid without worry.
Speaking during the distribution, FGRF Director for Communications and Public Relations, Ibrahim Omar Mataya, said the initiative embodies the true essence of Eid a time rooted in compassion, sharing and unity.
Mataya revealed that since the beginning of Ramadhan, FGRF has reached approximately 150,000 people across Malawi, both directly and indirectly, through various humanitarian interventions.
“With Allah’s mercy, we remain committed to transforming lives and playing our part in ending poverty in Malawi,” he said,
expressing gratitude for the impact achieved so far.
He further urged Muslims to embrace generosity, encouraging them to share whatever little they have so that no one is left behind during the celebrations.
Kanjeza Sisters representative, Abida Mia, commended FGRF for what she described as a timely and life changing intervention, especially for families who had no means to mark Eid.
She noted that the organization has consistently demonstrated dedication to uplifting vulnerable communities, making a real difference where it matters most.
Mia also took a moment to remind parents to guide their children particularly girls to dress modestly during Eid, emphasizing respect and dignity as key values during the festivities.
She stressed that caring for the less fortunate is a fundamental principle in Islam, one that strengthens bonds within communities and restores hope among the ultra poor.
One of beneficiaries Linda Sabiti Bulian from Machinjiri, the support has come as a blessing, ensuring her children will not go without food on Eid day.
Overflowing with gratitude, she offered prayers for FGRF, saying their kindness will bring smiles to many households during the celebrations.
This Ramadhan alone, FGRF has distributed food packs worth approximately K1 billion nationwide,for only Month of Ramadhan cementing its role as a leading humanitarian force committed to changing lives and restoring dignity across Malawi.
