Iqra’a University, formerly known as the International College of Business and Management (ICBM), has reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality and inclusive education following its transformation into a fully-fledged university.
Speaking in an interview with Sele Media Malawi on Tuesday, the university’s Vice Chancellor Professor Alfred Matiki described the development as a historic milestone that signals the institution’s continued growth and dedication to higher learning in Malawi.
Professor Matiki said the transition from a college to a university marks a new era for the institution and its stakeholders, promising improved academic standards and a richer student experience.
> “We are excited about the new opportunities that come with this transformation, and we will make sure that everyone benefits from the change,” said Professor Matiki.
He assured both students and staff that the transition process will be smooth, transparent, and inclusive, emphasizing that continuous updates will be provided as the institution adapts to its new status.
Established in 2002 as IZF College, the institution rebranded to ICBM in 2008, and has now reached a new milestone as Iqra’a University in 2025.
Professor Matiki further highlighted that the university’s primary focus remains on delivering accessible, high-quality education and nurturing graduates who can contribute meaningfully to national development.
