The Mazombwe family has every reason to celebrate, as three siblings from the same household have secured seats in Parliament, a rare and remarkable achievement in Malawi’s political landscape.
The trio includes Rachael Mazombwe, who retained her Mchinji North seat on a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ticket; Goston Mazombwe, who triumphed in Mchinji East as an independent candidate; and Madalitso Mazombwe, who also contested and won Salima South as an independent.
For Rachael, the third-born in a family of eight, this victory marks her fourth consecutive term representing the same constituency. Goston, the fourth-born and living with a disability, clinched victory on his third attempt, while the youngest, Madalitso, celebrated success on his maiden bid.
“We thank God that we all won the parliamentary elections, though in different constituencies. Indeed, we are blessed — but above all, what matters most is serving our people,” said Rachael, Goston, and Madalitso in a joint statement.
The Mazombwe siblings’ success story has since captured public attention, symbolizing unity, resilience, and a shared commitment to public service within one family.
