President Peter Mutharika has warned all those planning to stage anti-government demonstrations in the country, saying he will deal with them head-on.
Speaking in Mangochi on Thursday during his trip from Blantyre to his Page House residence, Mutharika said he will not tolerate any attempts to bring chaos and confusion to the nation in the name of freedom.
> “This nonsense of using demonstrations to destroy our country must stop! I will not sit back and watch people tear Malawi apart,” he said, as hundreds of supporters cheered him on.
The Malawi leader said the time has come for the country to rebuild and return to the peaceful and prosperous days of 2019, before what he described as years of political instability.
> “This is our moment to fix things and bring back the good old days when Malawians were happy, united, and hopeful,” he said.
Mutharika also called on all Malawians to rally behind his government and help rescue the nation from what he called the damage caused by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) administration.
> “We must stand together and save our nation from the suffering and poverty created by the MCP government,” he said.
Mutharika officially returned to power on September 24, 2025, after emerging victorious in the September 16, 2025 presidential election.
