The true meaning of Ramadhan compassion, sacrifice and solidarity came alive in Nsanje North Constituency as Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF) delivered vital food assistance to thousands of vulnerable households, transforming the holy month into a season of renewed hope.
In just three days, the humanitarian organisation reached an impressive 5,500 families nationwide, with 3,500 households supported in Nsanje North alone. The large scale intervention highlights FGRF’s growing footprint in responding to hunger and hardship across Malawi.
Breaking down the figures, FGRF’s Director of Public Relations and Projects, Ibrahim Omar Mataya, revealed that 1,700 families were assisted in Chikunda, 300 in Chiswe and 3,500 households at Nsanje Fatima bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 5,500 within a remarkably short period.
For many families in Nsanje North, where food insecurity remains a persistent challenge due to the area’s vulnerable topography, the relief came at a critical moment.
The constituency frequently faces hunger related difficulties, making such interventions not just helpful but essential.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology and Member of Parliament for Nsanje North, Francis Foley, commended the foundation for what he described as a timely and life saving gesture.
He acknowledged that communities in the area often struggle to secure daily meals, especially during difficult seasons.
Each household received a carefully prepared food pack containing 10 kilogrammes of maize flour, cooking oil, soya pieces, salt, sugar and rice basic necessities that will sustain families throughout the fasting period.
Beyond the food itself, the distribution symbolised dignity and care. In a month defined by prayer, reflection and generosity, the support has restored smiles to many households who feared going without meals.
Community members expressed gratitude, noting that the assistance has eased financial pressure and allowed families to observe Ramadhan with peace of mind.
As FGRF continues rolling out its Ramadhan programme across Malawi, the foundation is not only feeding the hungry but strengthening the spirit of unity that defines the holy month.
In Nsanje North, Ramadhan this year will be remembered not for scarcity but for compassion in action.
