With an ambitious target of assisting 100,000 families this Ramadhan, the Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF) has made a powerful start reaching 9,500 households in just four days.
The foundation’s rapid response campaign has cut across several districts, delivering essential food supplies to communities grappling with hunger and economic hardship.
The latest distribution took place on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Njovu Village under Traditional Authority Khwethemule in Thyolo District, where 4,000 families received relief items.
This single day outreach in Thyolo significantly boosted the cumulative figure, adding to the 5,500 families already supported in earlier phases of the programme.
In Chikunda, 1,700 families benefited from the initiative, while 300 households were assisted in Chiswe.
Nsanje District recorded 3,500 beneficiary families underscoring the scale and coordination behind the campaign.
What stands out in this year’s drive is the speed and organization with which the distributions are being conducted.
Within less than a week, thousands of households have been reached, reflecting both urgency and commitment during the holy month.
Although food was distributed at designated centres, beneficiaries came from surrounding villages, extending the impact beyond the immediate locations and ensuring wider community coverage.
FGRF officials say the programme is guided by the spirit of Ramadhan a time that emphasizes charity, compassion and solidarity with the less privileged. The foundation views the initiative not merely as food distribution, but as a mission to restore hope and dignity.
Member of Parliament for Thyolo Thava Constituency, Mery Navicha, who also serves as Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, commended the organisation for complementing government efforts in addressing food insecurity.
For many recipients, especially the elderly and vulnerable, the assistance comes at a crucial time when securing daily meals has become increasingly difficult. The food packs are expected to sustain households for several days during the fasting period.
As the campaign progresses, FGRF remains focused on scaling up operations across more districts, determined to transform its 100,000 family target into reality before the end of Ramadhan.
