A renewed call for youth empowerment has been made by Sheikh Amir Jaafar Kawinga, a respected Advocate for Gender Justice, who says education remains the most effective safeguard against social challenges facing young people today.
He made the remarks during a motivational engagement session organized by the Full Moon Organization, which brought together students from Standard 8 candidate Form 2 candidate and Form 4 candidate in Machinjiri, Blantyre.
Kawinga said many of the challenges affecting adolescents, including early marriages and other forms of abuse, can be reduced if young people remain committed to their studies and are given proper guidance.
He emphasized that education opens doors to understanding different career paths and life choices, helping learners to build confidence and make decisions that protect their future.
The gender justice advocate further appealed to government institutions, NGOs and community stakeholders to increase investment in youth-focused programs that address both education and protection issues.
He said no single institution can solve the challenges facing young people alone, stressing the need for collaboration in ensuring learners reach their full potential.
Full Moon Organization Chairman Hanif Abubadiria Daudi said the meeting was part of ongoing efforts to inspire academic excellence among learners in Machinjiri and surrounding areas.
Daudi explained that the program aims to encourage students to take school seriously, particularly those preparing for examinations that will shape their next stage of education.
He added that discipline and hard work remain key factors in achieving academic success, urging learners to avoid distractions that could derail their progress.
Beyond academic motivation, the Full Moon Organization continues to support youth through practical skills training in areas such as tailoring, catering, plumbing and electrical work.
According to the organization, these skills are designed to complement formal education and help young people become self-reliant even after completing school.
